Villeneuve-Loubet

Located near the A8 motorway, Villeneuve-Loubet exit. Access via RN7 or RN 98 20 km from Cannes et Grasse, 10 km from Nice.

At the convergence of the Loup and Mardaric, the village of Villeneuve-Loubet stands on a hill, while the new town and its buildings stretch down to the Mediterranenan. The coast offers you 4 km of beaches, where the European Blue Flag flies. Once you have parked on the vast car park on the banks of the Loup, gird your loins to climb up to the old village, where stairways are omnipresent and which is crowned by its medieval keep. You'll be surprised to discover an interesting village, with steeply sloping streets bordered by colourful facades and balconies decorated with flowers. At the top, a large church with a square belltower deserves a visit (it was built at the end of the 15th century by the Lascaris family), while the chateau, hiding behind its high walls, is bound to intrigue you. It is surrounded by vast grounds, and all that can be seen from outside is the top of its 33 metre high watchtower.

You'll be delighted to know that it is open to visitors. The owner, the marquis of Panisse-Passis, recently decided to open the doors of his residence to visitors. The chateau was built in the 13th century by Romee de Villeneuve, and consists of four buildings grouped around a trapezoidal inner courtyard. The (9th century) keep is surrounded by two rings of defensive walls with crenellations and arrow slits. The Panisse-Passis family became the owners of the chateau by inheritance in 1741. It is surrounded by 10 hectares of grounds where Mediterranean and exotic tree species are to be found. In Parc de Vaugrenier another listed chateau is to be found, a 16th century Renaissance style villa. Half of the municipality is forest (ancient oaks, maritime pines, mimosas, etc.). It is the most wooded of the coastal municipalities. Combining culture, nature and… beaches, Villeneuve-Loubet is the ideal place for a holiday !

Villeneuve-Loubet
