Balcony onto the sea… La Turbie, at the highest point of the « Grande Corniche », on the ancient Via Julia Augusta, is a true balcony suspended above Monaco. Its territory and rugged terrain (highly appreciated by hill-walkers) offers breathtaking and vertiginous viewpoints which have inspired poets and writers. This promontory position has conferred on La Turbie a strategic role since the dawn of time and shaped its unique history. The Romans chose the site to erect the monumental Trophy to the glory of Emperor Augustus, the counts of Provence transformed it into a fortress and the first Côte d’Azur winter visitors made of it one of their preferred destinations. If history and the passing centuries have undoubtedly transformed the village, it has retained its defensive character. Thanks to the richness and uniqueness of a remarkably well-preserved heritage, La Turbie offers numerous visitor itineraries. The local cuisine offered in the town’s restaurants will add considerably to the enjoyment of your visit.

• Trophy of Augustus (-7,-6 BC), its museum and tree- covered park. A unique example owing to its size and historic importance, recognised as of national interest and managed by the National Monuments Centre, it is one of the wonders of the architectural heritage of the Alpes Maritimes - on no account to be missed.
• Saint-Michel’s Church (1764 -1777). Of Nice Baroque style, it was built with stones from the ruined Trophy of Augustus.

Un balcone sul mare Al punto più alto della « Grande Corniche », sull’antica Via Julia Augusta, la Turbie è un vero balcone sospeso sopra il Principato di Monaco. Il suo territorio, al rilievo contrastato – molto apprezzato dai marciatori – vi offre punti di vista strabilianti e vertiginosi, che hanno ispirato poeti e scrittori. Questa posizione di promontorio ha conferito da sempre a La Turbie una funzione strategica e ha forgiato il suo destino eccezionale. I Romani hanno scelto il posto per elevare il monumentale Trofeo d’Augusto, a gloria dell’imperatore, i conti di Provenza l’hanno trasformato in una fortezza e i primi villeggianti della Costa Azzurra ne hanno fatto la loro destinazione preferita. Se i secoli e la storia hanno immancabilmente trasformato il villaggio, questo ha conservato il suo carattere difensivo. Grazie alle richezze e all’originalità di un patrimonio ottimamente preservato, La Turbie propone parecchi percorsi di visite. • La Chiesa San Michele (1764 -1777). Di stile barocco nizzardo, fu costruita in parte con le pietre del Trofeo d’Augusto in rovina.

Ла-Тюрби

Французская коммуна, расположенная в департаменте Приморские Альпы региона Прованс-Альпы-Лазурный берег. Город Ля Тюрби расположился на высоте 500 метров над уровнем моря. Этот маленький французский город располагается в 23 км от Ниццы и в 12 км от Ментона. Город Ля Тюрби часто называют террасой Монако, так как этого города открывается шикарный вид на Монако.

Восточный портал XII-XV веков (Le portail de l’ouest)

Трофей императора Августа (Le Trophée d’Auguste)

Площадь Saint Jean Baptiste

Железнодорожный вокзал XIX века
Железнодорожное сообщение между Ля Тюрби и Монако было торжественно открыто 10 февраля 1894 года.

Часовня Saint-Roche
Часовня построена в XVII веке, эта часовня является последней сельской часовней, которая смогла сохраниться до наших дней благодаря реставрации в 1940 году. Традиция гласит о том, что в этой часовня служила местом сбора всех обреченных на смертную казнь в Средние века.
