Vade-mecum
French Riviera Guide started a decade ago… In 2022, more than 200K people and businesses around the world follow our social sphere. This site became a reference to showcase the publications of the most talented photographers in the southeast corner of France and to inspire thousands of globe-trotters and Côte d'Azur lovers.
We provide several thousands pictures from Menton to Saint-Tropez. Speculations are varied when it comes to the definition of the real geographical border of the French Riviera on its West side, but one of them defines its limit at Cap Taillat in Ramatuelle. That's where we decided to fix our range on our Instagram account. Please note another Instagram account is available for Provence and Luberon.
Semantic & structure
This site is based on the Massive theme with Bootstrap 3.3.4, a mobile-first and responsive front-end framework. We are using few handmade tools to structure the semantic with HTML5 and CSS for the presentational design. This style sheet language is used to control the fonts, layout and background images where possible. The logotype of this site has been designed by Leigh Colclough-Evans, a British designer based in the London area. Body text calls Avenir by Adrian Frutiger. Most icons are embedded with Font Awesome via a CDN. Ampersands are using Hoefler Text by Jonathan Hoefler. Scripting is based on the jQuery 1.10.2 framework. Other notable tools and libraries used to build this site include: Mansonry, Isotope, Flexslider and Simple Weather.
All webpages are accessible through a variety of devices, with a language encoding of English, an HTML5 DocType, a character set of UTF-8 and use the viewport meta tag which means the content may be optimised for mobile content. The meta data supports Facebook's OG protocol, Google, Microsoft & Apple Icons, and a JSON Web App Manifest. Location pages support Geotagging. This site is hosted on an Apache server at OVH in Europe and uses the HTTPS protocol.
Ads
The site and its social affiliates is a non-commercial project that have been updated almost on a daily basis since 2014 and over 600 pages can be consulted in our Sitemap in HTML5 or XML format. It will remain free of cost because we believe that the internet should be more an unobtrusive, practical, free source of information for everyone, and also because photography doesn't always fits the world of outrageous behavior forcing registrations and constant login/logouts.
GDPR
On May 25, 2018, a new data privacy law called GDPR came into force, impacting how businesses collect and process data from individuals in the European Union. Websites must follow new rules when it comes to collecting, tracking, or handling EU-based prospects’ and customers’ personal data. French Riviera Guide is not using any registration, third-party scripting, analytics referrals, or LSO. We also fully support users browsing with an ad-free extension. The only cookie we send is due to the incompetence of our hosting provider because of load balancing issues.
Regarding imagery, you can request the following by contacting us :
- Right to be informed
- Right of access
- Right of rectification

- Right to restrict processing

Support us
We would like to thank our generous and talented contributors; without them, the project wouldn't exist. Make sure to take a look at their personal websites too! We are not showcasing all their work…
Here are few things you could do if you would like to help :
- If you are interested in purchasing a licence, our stock photography partners are offering reliable and secured services, and it will be a great way to support the work of the talented photographers we are currently showcasing.
- If you are a Business Angel appreciating our site and thinking this project could be used on a different thematic or different industry, you can contact us for web mastering services as we are always opened to new ideas.
- Share French Riviera Guide with your friends, family, or colleagues… This site has grown entirely by word-of-mouth, so a link on your website or social account is always appreciated. ♥
- We might create localised versions for each country in the future. If you are fluent in Russian or Italian and would like to participate to this project as a copyrighter, you can contact us.
Submit your work
We usually accept photography from people having a social media presence. Copyright are always mentioned. This helps to make sure people understand the general purpose of the site and builds more of a community feel.
Note: If we don’t feature your photography, it doesn’t mean that we don’t like it or that you aren't talented. We receive several photography every day and we are just not able to feature them all. Keep up the good work, capture the light, play with contrast and enjoy!
