Cannes-Mougins Golf Club
A par 71, 18 holes golf course of 6312 metres (6903 yards), came into being in 1923, but was rebuilt in 1977 by two architects: Peter Allis and Dave Thomas. The course is set in the Valmesques Forest, a protected environment here on the French Riviera. The course is dissected by the Bouillide River, which plays its part as a natural water hazard at various points around the golf course.
During a 14 year period, Golf Country Club de Cannes-Mougins played host to the Cannes Open as part of the European Golf Tour and has been graced by some well known winners like: Jean Garaialde, Greg Norman, Ian Woosnam and the late great Severiano Ballesteros.
Looking at the fairly wide lush fairways and carpet-like greens, putting in a good score card is not an impossibility, but saving par can be a real challenge if one fails to 'hit' the greens in regularity. One needs to work the ball around this golf course to earn the reward at the end of the round.
Golf Country Club Cannes-Mougins is another one of the more prestigious golf courses on the French Riviera and really is worth the challenge!
