Barbaroux Golf Club
Golf de Barbaroux is an 18 holes golf course of 6068 metres (6965 yards), set on 87 hectares of woodland. This golf course was designed by Pete and Paul Burke Dye and opened its fairways in 1989. It was the first golf course project in France by this American father and son team.
Peter Haslam, an independent expert of Golf World magazine says: "The best course of the Côte d'Azur region is probably Barbaroux, rightly classified 42nd in the Top 50 European courses by Golf World, but personally I would put it in a much better position."
At 6068 metres, it is not a long golf course, but each hole requires thought and consideration due to the many variations. With the contours and gradients of the the fairways, even the best tee shot could result in a tricky second shot. There are a number of deep bunkers and water hazards to be found all round the golf course as well as the odd blind shot, which all can and do present additional challenges.
With the 'Hôtel du Golf de Barbaroux' as part of the golf complex and both Aix en Provence and Marseille close by, there is opportunity for a few rounds of golf and other extra mural activities to make up a great golf trip.
