Richard Mierniczak is a self-taught artist, living and working in Germany near Stuttgart. He earns his living as an engineer in the automobile industry. Painting is his passion. Oil painting is his main technique, which he has acquired without outside influences. The main motive in his works are natural landscapes, a clear commitment to nature - in childhood the fields, meadows and groves had been the best playground for him and his playmates. In the course of time cityscapes, geometric abstractions as well as symbolic-surreal themes have been added to his subjects, but nature always returns as a continuous motif like a boomerang. In his search for the sun, light and sea, he discovered France and especially Provence, where all three elements are found in great abundance. There he combined painting in nature with hiking and discovering new wonderful places. Where others take their cameras out of their holsters, the painter sets up his field easel and starts painting. He also has his camera with him, in the end the vacation is over and so he secures memories, impressions and motives for the work in his studio.
