Euro, la monnaie européenne
L'euro (EUR) est la monnaie officielle en France. Les devises étrangères peuvent être échangées dans les banques, les bureaux de change ou certains grands hôtels. Cependant, vous obtiendrez un taux plus intéressant avec les distributeurs automatiques de billets. Les cartes bancaires les plus répandues sont facilement acceptées, notamment dans les principales zones touristiques. Les devises étrangères ne sont pas acceptées en guise de paiement.
Le 1er janvier 2002, comme 11 autres états de l’Union européenne, la France a adopté l’euro. Ces billets et pièces peuvent donc être utilisés dans n’importe quel pays de la zone euro : la France, l’Allemagne, la Belgique, les Pays-Bas, le Luxembourg, l’Autriche, la Finlande, l’Irlande, l’Italie, l’Espagne, le Portugal et la Grèce. Depuis le 1er janvier 2007, la Slovénie est le 13e pays à adopter la monnaie unique européenne.

Euro, the European currency
The Euro (EUR) is the official currency in France. Currency can be exchanged at banks, bureaux de change and some large hotels, though you will get a better exchange rate at the ATMs. Major credit cards are widely accepted, particularly in major tourist destinations. Foreign currency is not accepted.
On 1 January 2002, along with 11 other Member States of the European Union, France adopted the euro currency. These notes and coins can therefore be used in any country belonging to the euro zone: France, Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Austria, Finland, Ireland, Italy, Spain, Portugal and Greece. Since 1 January 2007, Slovenia has been the 13th member state to introduce the euro.

Recent and Future Euro Countries
- On January 1st, 2009, Slovakia started using the euro. Estonia began using the euro on January 1st, 2011. Latvia began using the euro as its currency on January 1, 2014.
- Lithuania is expected to join the Eurozone in the next few years and thus become a new country using the euro.
- Only 18 of the 27 members of the European Union (EU) are part of the Eurozone, the name for the collection of EU countries that utilize the euro.
- Notably, the United Kingdom, Denmark, and Sweden have thus far decided not to convert to the euro. Other new EU member countries are working toward becoming part of the Eurozone.
- On the other hand, Andorra, Kosovo, Montenegro, Monaco, San Marino, and the Vatican City are not EU members but do officially use the euro as their currencies.

The symbol for the euro is a rounded "E" with one or two cross lines - €. You can see a larger image on this page. Euros are divided into euro cents, each euro cent being one one-hundredth of a euro.

- €1 is divided into 100 centimes or cents.
- Notes: €5, €10, €20, €50, €100, €200 and €500.
